Eligibility Criteria for Company Formation in Ajman

Ajman, one of the seven emirates in the UAE, offers a business-friendly environment through its mainland and free zone jurisdictions. To form a company in Ajman, businesses must meet specific eligibility criteria depending on the chosen setup, Ajman Mainland or Ajman Free Zone.

Firstly, foreign investors can fully register a company in the Ajman Free Zone without requiring a local sponsor. However, mainland companies may require a local service agent or a UAE national partner, unless the business activity qualifies for 100% foreign ownership under the UAE Commercial Companies Law.

The applicant must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid passport. For corporate shareholders, incorporation documents, a board resolution, and a power of attorney are required.

Depending on the business activity, certain professional qualifications or approvals from regulatory authorities (e.g., health, education, or financial services) may be necessary.

A physical office space is mandatory for mainland companies, while free zone entities can operate with flexi-desks or shared offices.

Finally, the business activity must be legally permitted in Ajman, and investors must pass background and security checks. Meeting these criteria ensures a smooth and compliant company formation process in Ajman’s growing economic landscape.
