What's the best way to get rid of an old couch in the city?

Hey everyone, I'm finally replacing my old, beat-up sofa and I have no idea what to do with the old one. It's not in good enough condition to donate, so I can't just take it to a charity. I live in a downtown apartment without a truck.

What do most people do in this situation? Are there any affordable pickup services, or is renting a van and taking it to the dump myself the only option? I'm trying to avoid a huge fee. Any advice from someone who has dealt with this recently would be a huge help!
