Hello,

This winter, I’ve noticed ice forming along my roof edges, and some of my downspouts are freezing solid. I’m worried about potential damage to the roof and gutters. I’ve also realized that when there are stains on the soffit or fascia, it might indicate water backing up under the shingles, possibly caused by ice dams.

I’ve heard about using heat cables, better attic insulation, or improving ventilation to prevent ice-dams-frozen-downspouts, but I’m not sure which approach is most effective. Has anyone successfully managed this issue without causing further damage?
