Feeling completely lost about the independent medical exam
Got a letter yesterday saying I have to go for an IME next week for my carpal tunnel claim, and now I'm spiraling a little if I'm being honest. I've been doing data entry for this financial firm for like eight years, and the repetitive work finally caught up with me to the point where my hands go numb just driving home. My regular doctor already documented everything and recommended surgery, but now their insurance is sending me to some doctor I've never heard of in a whole different borough, and everything I read online says these exams almost always try to minimize your injury. A buddy told me not to stress and just be polite and answer honestly, but another guy at work said they'll twist your words if you're not careful. I was poking around on https://www.workerscompensationattorneylaw.com/ last night just to understand what rights I have during these things, because the whole setup feels super one-sided and intimidating. Has anyone here been through an IME in Queens and actually had it go okay, or am I right to be worried they're gonna try to deny me?
